UPDATE: I am now the Conservative candidate in the riding so I have been aggressively campaigning ahead of the upcoming election. If you’re able to support my campaign financially, please consider making a tax deductible donation here.
Throughout my career, I’ve devoted myself to championing the values of conservatism, freedom, and common sense.
The medium has changed, of course. When I got into talk radio more than a decade ago, it was a thriving, vibrant force in Canada. Now, it’s a shadow of what it once was.
Independent media, which used to be treated as a punchline, is now rivalling or beating legacy media in reach and credibility. That’s why it’s been a privilege to be a part of True North for the last six years, as well as to have this space on Substack.
I’ve worn many hats over the years, sometimes simultaneously. Journalist, editor, broadcaster, author are just a few.
The time has come to go in a different direction. This week, I launched my campaign for the Conservative Party of Canada’s nomination in Elgin—St. Thomas—London South, a riding in my community whose member of Parliament, Karen Vecchio, is not seeking re-election.
My last newsletter was about my decision to write a biography of Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre. That book has spent 10 weeks on the Canadian bestsellers list so far, an achievement about which I am immensely proud. While I’d love to chalk it up to my own efforts as an author, I am aware that much of the book’s success is because of the hunger in this country for people to honestly and fairly tell the conservative story, which I set out to do in that book and my previous one about the Freedom Convoy.
I’ve always been aware there are different ways to serve. The opportunity to represent my community and champion the values I hold dear as a Conservative candidate and member of Parliament is too important to pass up.
To do this, I need to be nominated. If you live in Elgin—St. Thomas—London South, please consider taking out a Conservative membership to support my campaign. You can get all the details at my website.
If you live elsewhere in Canada, connecting me to folks who live in the riding is incredibly important. You can also support my campaign with a financial contribution to help me get the word out and reach as many people in the riding as I can.
As I said yesterday on my show, I can’t work in media and stand for office at the same time, so I’ve taken a leave of absence from True North and will be putting this newsletter on hold too.
I have put a pause on paid subscriptions that will last until my nomination campaign is over. If you’re an annual subscriber, your renewal date will be postponed, and if you’re a monthly subscriber, no payments will be processed until the campaign ends.
Thank you to the thousands of you who’ve supported this project, whether by subscribing, sharing, commenting, or sending me your ideas. I’ll be back soon in some form – perhaps from Ottawa.
If you want to get me elected, I need to be nominated as the Conservative candidate first. If you live in the riding, please take out a Conservative membership to support my nomination. If you don’t, please donate. All the details are at my campaign website.
Andrew I wish you all the best in your pursuit of the nomination. I’ve been following your work for a while now and think you do a great job and can be trusted to be fair in your reporting. I’m sure you would do great work in Ottawa. All the best.
Andrew, a real voice for freedom and democracy!!! I wish you the absolute best and will miss your commentary on True North! I look forward to watching you in your new service for the public as an MP! Bless you dear Conservative!! 🙏 ✌️ ♥️ 🇨🇦
